Inking on Chalk Couture’s Burlap Board

Burlap is one of my all time favorite crafting mediums. Need a cute bow for your sign? Add a burlap ribbon! Making your own holiday wreath? Use some burlap! Not only is it versatile, and something you likely have laying around in your craft box, but it is BEAUTIFUL.

In case you haven’t noticed I’m a big fan. So I when Chalk Couture dropped this burlap board during our last launch, I knew I HAD to get my hands on it.

This surface was so easy to craft with. For this particular DIY project, I decided to use our ink. Ink is a permanent option when chalking on fabric. With a burlap sign that won’t be washed or wet at any point, I could have used the paste just as well.

Ink vs. Paste when deciding which to use on a project.

I would typically use paste on a decorative sign but I wanted to see how ink would come out on burlap. Note: I did have to allow the ink to dry then I ironed on a low heat setting for 8 minutes with parchment paper between the design and the iron.

(By heat setting it this way, I was able to skip the step of sealing it with a poly spray)

I loved the end result of this particular piece and will definitely be using this surface in future projects! Check out how quick and simple it was to do…

DIY Herb Garden Tags

As a Chalk Couture designer, I make commission on any purchses made using the links given in the following article. I appreciate all of your support for our small family owned business!

DIY Herb Garden Tags

Let me start by saying that I am NO gardener. I once killed a cactus after just two days. However, I NEVER pass up an opportunity for a cute and simple craft.

That’s why, using a transfer I had laying around and leftover tags from Christmas, I decided to DIY these beautiful little herb garden labeling tags.

What You Need:

  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Popsicle sticks (3)
  • Squeegee
  • Chalkology Paste (I used shimmer gold and parakeet here)
  • Chalk Couture Transfer – FRESH HERBS
  • Chalk Couture Tag Minis (they come in a 6 pack but we only used 3 here)

The project was short and sweet and I think the end product was a cute one! Check out the step by step fast track tutorial below!

I really love being able to take something so simple and turn it into something beautiful, unique, and even useful! Now if I can JUST get these herbs to actually grow, we’ll be SET!

What did you think of this project? Are there any other creative ways you think I should use the Tag Minis? Let me know in the comments!

Baby Charm Stroller Organizer Review

I received a complementary Baby Charm Stroller Organizer in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and recommendations are my own. Thank you for your continued support of our blog.

As a mom, convenience has become a priority in my life. I need to be prepared at all times. I’m talking armed to the teeth with diapers, snacks, backup onesies, toys…you name it and I’m probably going to do my best to have it on hand.

This is why a reliable organizer, like the Baby charm found on Amazon, is so crucial in my day to day routine. Of course I have a big diaper bag that I tote around on errands, to Doctor’s appointments, and play dates. But when I took up running, I realized I needed something more compact.

Wee Blessing Clothing Subscription Review

This is a sponsored post written in exchange for sample product. As always, all thoughts and opinions are genuine and my own. We appreciate your support here at Beautifully Imperfect Mama!

To say that shopping with kids is frustrating would be the understatement of the year. The hassle of getting my toddler dressed and out the door alone makes me break out in a sweat. As I sat at home six months pregnant, I cringed at the thought of taking not one but TWO kids shopping for clothes.

Around that same time I was told by my editors at the Military Moms Blog about an opportunity to try a game changing subscription box called Wee Blessing.

Of course I was practically foaming at the mouth for the opportunity to review a clothing subscription that not only dresses kids, but the WHOLE family (adults and maternity included)!

Letting Go Of Mom Guilt

These days with so many socia media networks, like Pinterest and Instagram, there seems to be so much pressure to be the “perfect” mom. While my husband works 12 hour (or more) work days, I find myself feeling guilty that maybe I’m not doing enough on the home front. I know I can’t be the only one experiencing this.

Whether you’re a stay at home mom or a working mom, we always feel like we could or should be doing more. More with our kids, more around the house…Well I’m here to stand with you and let go of that guilt! I will no longer compare myself to others and beat myself up for any “shortcomings” I feel I may have. Instead I will embrace the opportunity I’ve been given as a wife and mother and be proud of what I DO accomplish in a day!

Game Day Guacamole

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not much of a football fan. However, growing up in a football family never left me much of a choice in participating in game days. I quickly learned to find things that I DO enjoy…tailgates, squares, and most of all…the food.

Yes, football fans sure know how to put out an impressive spread of food. During football season I often find myself dreaming, not of playoffs and fantasy teams, but of hot wings and jalapeño poppers.

But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats a good chip dip! The possibilities here are endless. One dip I can guarantee will be a hit at any game day, or party in general, is a fresh, HOMEMADE guacamole.

That’s why I needed to share this game changing recipe with all of you!
