As my son gets older it’s becoming more important to me that we start focusing on meaningful lessons during playtime. One thing we focused on last month was Giving Thanks.
In a world of increasing entitlement we want to raise our kids to be grateful. From family to the waitress at our favorite restaurant, I want them to acknowlege all that others do for them. Which leads me to our latest playtime adventure…
The Kid’s Night In Box
If you’re a regular visitor here at Beatuifully Imperfect Mama then you may have read a couple of my reviews on Night In Boxes. Well to my excitement they recently released a Kid’s Night In Box!
Each box comes curated with a variety of activities for kids ages 3-11. Our November box came with some great tools for our lesson on Giving Thanks.
While all opinions and recommendations are my own, the following is a sponsored post. This post also contains affiliate links for the sponsoring consultant. We both appreciate your support to keep our businesses thriving and to allow us to keep doing what we love!
Shopping (one of my favorite things to do)! I’ve always loved finding the perfect accessories but as I grow older, my shopping style has evolved. Before, the most important factor was PRICE. Don’t get me wrong, I still adore a good sale, but lately I find myself caring more about quality. Not just in terms of the product itself but the company that I’m buying from as well.
Rather than going directly for the price tag, I wonder about the company I am buying from. How do they treat their employees? Where do they source their materials from? Do they give back to the community in any way?
So when I heard about this incredible company called Sseko Designs, I had to learn more. It was easy to see at the first glance that this is a company dedicated to ethics and empowerment.
Have you ever dreaded going out of the house with your kids? Maybe it’s just a day of running to the grocery store and the bank or maybe it’s so you can finally make it to that dentist appointment you’ve been putting off for 6 months. Either way, you know your little one will be less than thrilled with the less than “kid friendly” activities.
To survive this sort of adventure you’ll need to pack the essentials. Of course, each child is different and there’s a very good chance that there will be some trial and error before you figure out what will keep your kids happy. For my “Toddzilla”, there are 5 ways I tend to keep him reined in during these outings.

Hey mama! Yeah you, with the messy bun and chipped nail polish. My guess is you’re exhausted and could use a little break, am I right? Me too. Motherhood is a beautiful thing but as fulfilling as it is, it doesn’t leave much time for “me time”.
There are quite a few things I love to do to unwind. The trouble is that most of these are time consuming and often pricey (shopping, manicures, etc.). Honestly, the majority of the time I’m too tired to even go out and do these things. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a fairy Godmother appear at times like this? I imagine mine would show up with treats in hand.
I’ve had quite a busy Summer (the blog, family vacations, keeping my toddler entertained…). Then one day I opened my mailbox to find a package marked: It’s You Time. Mom’s Night In Boxes.
The first few times we flew with our son, he was young enough to be entertained by the safety pamphlet on the plane. I was sure that flying with him this time, at over a year and a half, wouldn’t be so simple.
You can bet that I planned out the perfect checklist for keeping him happy during our flight from North Carolina to Texas (including one 3-hour Atlanta layover).
Of course, you and I both know, that no matter how much you plan and prep, things can always go a different way. My dream flight turned into reality very quickly.
Hello I’m Jordan. And I’m an over-packer. I’ve always been this way; packing for every type of weather, taking full bottles of shampoo for one weekend, and having my suitcase bursting at the seams when I close it.
(Pictured above: Our trip to Texas the previous Summer where I thought packing a whole separate suitcase would be a good alternative. Try dragging that thing around airport after airport…)
The first trip we took after having our son was hard for me. Not because I was afraid he’d get cranky or because we’d be on a germ infested airplane, but because it meant I would have to pack both my things AND my son’s in ONE suitcase! Continue reading “6 Tips for Packing for Kids”

Okay mamas, raise your hand if you love coffee! Did you raise it? Then keep reading. Do you not only love coffee but prefer to order specialty drinks when you go to your local coffee shop (i.e. macchiatos, lattes, hot chocolate)? If you answered yes, keep reading!
I would like to introduce to you our newest kitchen member, the Genio 2. Naturally my husband and I were excited and pulled it out immediately to try it. The first thing we noticed is the chic and futuristic look of the machine, the next thing we noticed was how compact it is! We live in an apartment so space is limited. I also cook a lot so I need my counter space. The Genio 2 fit perfectly in it’s own corner and that is where it continues to reside. Continue reading “Nescafé Genio 2 Coffee Maker Review”
I say it all the time…”I’m totally winging this whole motherhood thing.” I spend half of my day trying to get my toddler to eat something other than hotdogs and cheese and the other half arguing about why he needs to keep his diaper on.
When my friend and fellow mom blogger, Little Bit Of Learning, challenged me to write out 10 ways that I’m rocking motherhood, I pushed it to the back of the writing pile. It’s difficult to boast about what you’re doing right when you’re constantly unsure of what you should be doing in the first place. Now with Mother’s Day here, I thought I’d give myself a little gift and brag away.
